Crescent Sweet Rolls

Warm, golden, melt in your mouth Crescent Sweet Rolls!!!  Yesterday I made them for a BBQ with our closest friends and drizzled honey on top of them (the rolls, not my friends)...omg, the were so dang good, I can't even begin to tell you.  I had planned to make 4 pans of them (64 rolls in total) and thank goodness my nieces showed up just in time to help me with 3 of the pans.  Thank you Finau and MJ!  Nifai was also awake yesterday morning and actively helping unlike some other sleepyheads AHEM AHEM!  So without further ado, here is the best sweet roll recipe you will ever taste.

Prep time:  2hrs 15 min                       Bake time:  12 min                                 Yield: 16 rolls

INGREDIENTS:
1/2  cup water
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 .25 oz pkg active dry yeast OR 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

1/3 cup softened butter
1/4 cup honey



DIRECTIONS
  1. In small microwaveable cup or bowl, combine water and milk and heat for 1 minute.
  2. Pour mixture into bowl of stand mixer or breakmaker
  3. Add yeast, egg, melted butter, sugar, salt and flour
  4. Use hook attachment for stand mixer and mix on low speed for 5 minutes or until smooth ball of dough forms.  **For breakmaker, place on "DOUGH" setting and press start.  When program is done, skip to step 6.
  5. Remove bowl from mixing stand and cover with towel.  Let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Sprinkle flour on clean surface and turn dough over onto flour.
  7. Sprinkle more flour on top of dough ball.
  8. With rolling pin, roll dough out until about 1/4" thickness.
  9. With pizza cutter, cut dough in half.  Then cut across in other direction to create fourths.  Cut each fourth in half, then half again and continue cutting each piece in half until you have 16 equal slices.  (view pictures and video below)
  10. From widest side of dough, roll dough up to the very tip.
  11. Place crescent rolls with tip side of dough down on greased baking sheet to prevent unrolling.
  12. Continue until all dough slices are rolled and spaced apart evenly on baking sheet.
  13. Cover with towel and let rise another 45-15 minutes
  14. Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
  15. Bake in oven for 12 minutes.
  16. Remove from oven and immediately brush with butter on each roll.
  17. Drizzle honey lightly over entire sheet of rolls.
  18. Allow to cool before serving.
  19. After completely cooled, sweet rolls can be stored in airtight bags for 3-5 days.
