7 Ingredients--7 Recipes--7 Days

There was a time, years ago, when we were really low on food and really low on money.  I searched for a recipe that I could make which required very few ingredients.  This happened frequently in our early family life.  That's how I got to be so good at cooking and baking--lack of money forces you to be resourceful and creative.  Are those two things interchangeable?  Anyway, it helped me learn to always keep a good stock of the following items in my kitchen.

Flour
Sugar
Milk
Eggs
Salt
Oil
Rising agent

By now you're saying--DUH!  Well how often do you throw these things into your ordinary meals to make them EXTRAordinary???  Huh. You just had a brain fart, didn't you?  Well, DUH, that's why we're here together isn't it.

So let me tell you what we are going to make in the next 7 DAYS that require a few or all of these items IN ADDITION to what you might normally be making for dinner.  No, no, no--this is not one of those 1 dish meal tutorials.  This is a "SHOCK and AWE" type of deal.  It will shock you how easy this stuff is to make and your family will be in awe at your baking and culinary skills.

Day 1=PIZZA
Instead of plain ol' spaghetti let's go for HOMEMADE PIZZA!  Don't be scared, the dough is super easy and toppings are all your personal preference.  For this you'll need Flour, sugar, salt, a rising agent (yeast) and oil.  That's it! I'll even teach you how to make your own sausage.

Day 2=PIE CRUST
Tired of chicken or beef with the same old sides every night?  How about a pot pie?  Too many apples--make a dutch apple pie.  Thanksgiving leftovers?  You got it--day after Thanksgiving pie!  So many different directions you can take this...I got you covered for a great pie crust that uses flour, salt, oil and egg.

Day 3=YEAST DONUTS
When I first learned to make doughnuts I didn't think it could possibly be that simple with so few ingredients.  But it was!  And I know I say this all the time but I'll say it again--homemade taste WAY better than store bought.  I promise.  Even better than you favorite doughnut shop, or donut shop.  However you spell it.

Day 4= BISCUITS
Do you just LOVE biscuits and gravy for breakfast?  How about biscuits to go along with your fried chicken or chicken fried steak?  The recipe I've got for you will put those pop biscuits from your local grocery store to shame.  Who could possibly think that biscuits from a can could hold a candle to the buttery love you slather all over your homemade biscuits. Ha!  I say again, Ha!  We'll show them!  (I haven’t done pictures of this either, head hanging in shame.  I will update that too!)

Day 5=BAGELS
Shoot--bagels are good any time of the day.  Spread cream cheese on it in the morning, slap some salami and swiss on it for lunch, or use it for a steak and cheese sammy for dinner.  However you want it, it is best fresh and straight from YOUR kitchen to the table.

Day 6=FRENCH BREAD
You know that REAL SPECIAL butter and jam you save for only the GOOD STUFF?  Better bust it  out for day 6 cause we gonna knead that HARD!  Get it?  Need.  Knead.  You get it, I know, I'm hilarious.  I also use this recipe to make rolls/buns for our philly cheesesteak sandwiches.

Day 6=NAVAJO TACOS/FRY BREAD
Oh, yes, I did.  I don't even know what to say about this one to TOUCH on how awesome it is to have fresh fry bread, hot, on your plate, all for the taking.  It's going to be even better than...ugh...everything, ok?  Its simply the best.  Period.

Stay tuned for the next 7 days so you can learn how to add some pizzazz to YOUR table!
